Cheated by MSColor Ang Mo Kio.

Bought a Panasonic LX3 last month at MSColor Ang Mo Kio.

Telephone quote was LX3 with OEM battery, screen protector, case and 4GB SDHC card.

When I went there a few hours later, the guy told me that the OEM battery promotion is over and had to pay an extra $30 for the OEM battery. Surfing Clubsnap, the guys were getting the OEM battery, screen protector, case and 4GB SDHC at $699.

Even regular customer kena cheated, I've been buying from them for a few years.

Geotate/Jobo PhotoGPS update.

My concerns have come true, I emailed Cathay Photo Singapore and was told that they are not bringing in the Jobo PhotoGPS to Singapore.

I contacted Geotate and Jobo, Geotate replied to contact Jobo or get it online from the websites listed on Geotate website. Most are in European languages or UK where the shipping and handling charges are expensive.

No reply yet from Jobo.

I'm going in circles trying to buy the Jobo PhotoGPS.

Solmeta DP-GPS N90 for Nikon D90

PC-Mobile GN-1 GPS

GPS solution for Nikon DSLR is getting cheaper.

PC-Mobile GN-1 GPS, US$99.50

http://www.pc-mobile.net/nikongps.htm

The PC-Mobile GPS solution for the D90 version will be available in February 2009, hopefully.

Q: Can GN-1 be used with D90?

A: With suitable cable/adapter - YES. Because D90 uses a new 10-pin Nikon proprietary accessory port, we'll have to develop such connector, which takes time and we are working on it. We do not expect this to be available before end of January.

Solmeta GPS for D90

Solmeta has mentioned in Clubsnap that they'll be having a GPS for the D90 on December 2008.

I believe that they'll be out of stock when it comes in the market and have to wait for a few months.

GPS Adapter Cord for Nikon D-series cameras

This GPS Adapter Cord is designed for Nikon D-series cameras (see specifications) to support the recording of location information such as latitude longitude altitude and UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) at which a shot is taken.

It is to be connected to GPS units that comply with version 2.01 or 3.01 of the National Marine Electronics Association NMEA0183 interface standard with which GPS data (NMEA0183) format can be inserted into D2X image files during capture.

**A nine-pin D-sub computer interface cable that comes with the GPS device (NOT included in this listing) is required for connecting to this adapter cord.

Jobo GPS.

Jobo GPS 2007, which was very big.

Jobo PhotoGPS with Geotate in 2008.

I emailed Geotate to get the GPS who emailed me back to contact Jobo.

I did that, emailed Jobo about the Jobo GPS and there is still no reply of my early email on the first week of October 2008.

Update 211008(Tue): I've received an email from Jobo today that the Jobo GPS will be available in November throught Cathay Photo Singapore.

Geotate -> Jobo -> Cathay Photo -> Jobo -> Cathay Photo

What will happen in November 2008, if I go to Cathay Photo, they'll say that stocks are not in from Jobo.

Looks like there's no urgency to sell this Jobo GPS.

Nikon GP-1 GPS unit.

Unfortunately, the Nikon GP-1 GPS unit straight cable is on the side of the D90 camera which will hinder the end users.

No price yet.

New stuff from Dawntech and Solmeta

Dawntech of Hong Kong has renamed their product from N2-diGPS, which I also bought about a year ago, to Dawntech Basic which by the way has no on-off switch like the old N2-diGPS and Pro which is waterproof and has a ten pin input.

My Dawntech N2-diGPS.

The other version is named USB for Canon camera.

Check out the Dawntech website.

Solmeta of China has introduced the new DP-GPS N2 which is able to geotag the last known coordinates if the signal is lost or when you're indoors. Priced at US$288.

Geotate geotagging products

Geotate Hopi.

Geotate Kato

I'm looking forward to the Geotate solution for geotagging.

So in our continuing search for the best geotagging systems, we spoke with some folks from Geotate in Las Vegas, who have developed technology which will now be in the next gen of point and shoot cameras.

They are working with a company called Altek, one of the major manufacturers of digital cameras that a bunch of brands put their name on. Oh, don’t worry..that’s how most of it happens. One company develops and makes a product that can be branded by a specific company. Like Kodak. Or Sony.

Take a look and listen to some of Geotate’s technology:

http://www.photoinduced.com/archives/840

The Geotate Hopi looks promising for use with cameras that have hotshoe. I believe that you've to synchronise the camera time with the GPS time.

It'll be a great disadvantage if the Geotate software is only able to geotag jpeg files instead of Nikon NEF or any other RAW files.

No idea when will the Geotate Hopi be out for sale.
